Examination Norms and Criteria For Promotion

Class Nursery to Prep

The academic is divided in to two terms. No formal testing is done for these classes. Evaluation is based on the day to day performance under the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation. The assessment may be done on the basis of written work done in the notebooks or worksheets and also through oral assessment based on discussion and interactions. The other activities are also assessed like visit to Computer Lab, Visit to Library etc. Report Cards are given twice a year in October and March.

Classes I to VIII

As per the CBSE revised assessment structure, the examination for the academic year 2019-20 for Class VI-VIII is.

  • A). Entire year will be divided in to two terms of 100 marks each.

  • B). For each term there will be written exam of 80 marks, one periodic written test of weightage 10. Marks will be awarded for Notebook and maintenance & submission and 5 marks for Subject Enrichment Activity.

  • C). Notebook submission: Notebook Submission as a part of internal assessment is aimed at enhancing seriousness of students towards preparing notes for the topic being taught in the classroom as well as assignment. The parameters of assessment are:
        Regularity,    
        Assignment Completion,     
        Neatness and Update of notebook


  • D). Subject Enrichment: These are subject specific application activities aimed at enrichment of understanding and skill development. The activities for different subjects will be
            Languages: Speaking and Listening Skills                 Science: Practical Lab Work
            Maths: Math Lab Practical                                                   Social Science: Map Work and Project
  • E). Winter exam of 80 marks for Term I will cover the syllabus completed till the announcement of dates for HalfYearly Exam.

  • F). For Term II in class VI, the syllabus of entire second term +10% of syllabus of First Term will be assessed.

  • G). For Term II in class VII, the syllabus of entire second term +20% of syllabus of First Term will be assessed.

  • H). For Term II in class VIII, the syllabus of entire second term +30% of syllabus of First Term will be assessed.

  • I). For holistic development of students co-scholastic areas (Work Education, Art Education, Health and physical Education) will be assessed on a 3-point scale.

  • J). The Students will also be assed for the discipline which will be done term-wise on a 3 point grading scale.

For Classes IX:

The School will follow the pattern of assessment as in Class X. The same assessment model will be replicated as in Class X (the details are given under the Head of Assessment in Class X)

Classes X

Consequent upon the decision taken by the Governing Body of the Board the examination from Academic year 2019-20 would be conducted as per the remodeled assessment structure explained below.

  • Periodic Tests: (05 marks):Periodic Test will be conducted thrice in the entire academic year including the portion cumulatively. The weightage of the Periodic Test would be 05 marks. Average of best two test will be taken for final marks submission.

  • Portfolio : (05 marks) :The creation of portfolios is suggested to broaden the scope of learning and achieve diverse curriculum outcomes by examining a range of evidence of student performances being assessed.A portfolio is a purposeful collection of intentionally chosen student’s work representing a selection of performances that is assembled over time and describes the learner’s efforts, progress, growth and achievement in key areas learning outcomes. It is a tool for assessing a variety of skills not usually testable in a single setting of the traditional written paper and pencil tests. Assessment would include self and peer assessment among others. Its use is recommended as a support to the new instructional approaches that emphasize student’s role in constructing knowledge and understanding.

  • Subject Enrichment: (05 marks) :These are subject specific application activities aimed at the enrichment of the understanding and skill development. The average of best two will be taken for final marks submission. The activities for different subject will be as follows:
            Languages: Speaking and Listening Skills                 Science: Practical Lab Work
            Maths: Math Lab Practical                                                 Social Science: Map Work and Project

  • Multiple Assessment: (05 marks): Multiple assessment comprises observation, oral tests, individual or group work, Class discussion, field-work, concept maps, graphic organizers,visual representation etc.

  • The 6th subject (IT) will be assessed through both Theory and Practical Tests. Theory Test will be of 50 marks and Practical of 50 marks.

  • Board examination will be of 80 marks covering the entire syllabus in which students need to secure at least 33% (27 marks) to pass.

  • Final Result will comprise marks of Board Examination - 80 marks and internal Assessment - 20 marks.
